I have a background in architecture from the School of Design and Architecture at Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso, which strongly influences my ways of “being in” practice.
The Valparaiso School was a project of “poetically inquiring into the meaning of being American from a Latin American perspective” (Mercado & Salgado Cofré 2022). Their pedagogical approach to design and architectural education is expanded by being intertwined with poetry, where “la palabra poetica” (the “word of the poetry” or poetic word) is the key for understanding and translating into design the situated relations between “being human” and space (De Arce 2003; Mercado & Salgado Cofré 2022).

From that architectural formation, I transitioned towards an expanded design practice by articulating participatory design interventions and strategies in the context of spatial practice, service design and public innovation projects.
In 2010 I’ve founded Estudio Racimo, a strategic and service design consultancy that worked together with some of the most influential private and public organisations in Chile.
I was also part of the team that installed the Laboratorio de Gobierno, the first innovation lab at the Chilean government.
Besides that, I was involved in several projects that explores multiple intersections between technology, art, sound and identity, such as the chilean edition of MUTEK festival (2005-2009), the creation of LaSorra Records as a collision of my southamerican heritage with digital culture, among other collaborations.
